JioPhone 2 with QWERTY Keyboard Launched in India @ INR 2999

Reliance has launched the JioPhone 2 in India for INR 2999. The price is introductory, and availability of the same starts from August 15. The dual SIM, qwerty keyboard supporting phone uses similar components as the first version.

The first device became popular with its 4G connectivity feature, and Jio plans to repeat the success story through this second generation model. This one comes with the same 2.4-inch display, now placed horizontally in comparison to the vertical placement on the JioPhone.

Even the resolution stays precisely similar to the first version. The newly introduced qwerty keyboard comes with additional 4-way navigation bar for quick access to the shortcuts. JioPhone 2 comes with 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal storage and expandable memory option through microSD.

They have offered a 2MP rear camera for occasional photography while front comes with a 0.3MP camera for video calling. The phone comes with a 3.5mm audio jack, 4G VoLTE connectivity, Bluetooth 4.1 LE and NFC. The battery capacity is decently limited to 2000 mAh.

The company has not clarified about processor availability on the JioPhone 2 but, one can expect Spreadtrum or an entry-level Snapdragon processor like the older JioPhone. It may sound like a steal deal but, attentive buyers will notice that the same sort of equipment is still available for INR 1500 on their first generation device.

A keyboard costing INR 1500 may not be the ideal choice of a smart Indian as the purpose of existence of Reliance Jio was to serve the most affordable equipment at best possible prices.
